Larissa is a native Staten Islander who has been dancing since the age of 2 ½. She has been teaching and performing Modern Dance, West African, Jazz, Hip Hop and Tap for over 25 years throughout NYC. She experiences complete joy when she is sharing Yoga and Dance with the community. She has trained with Lynn Simonson, Diane McCarthy and Niambi Keyes. In 2011, Larissa fell in love with Baptiste Power Vinyasa Yoga , studied and continues to study with Baron Baptiste and became Certified Baptiste Power Vinyasa Yoga Instructor. Larissa has also studied with Lynn Simonson, and is a Certified Beginner Simonson Dance Teacher. Larissa has received grants from SI Arts for dance projects and is an active contributor to the Dance and Yoga community on Staten Island.
Larissa has also been bringing dance & movement programs to older adults & Senior Citizens in SI. In August 2014, Larissa founded Living Through Movement a 501 c(3) whose mission is to create dance and movement programs for low and moderate income children, adults, and senior citizens, individuals with disabilities and persons with Alzheimer’s disease.
Kira Leigh has been meditating since 1998, practicing yoga since 1999, and teaching yoga since 2006. She is inspired and humbled by this profound practice of yoga, and how it manifests in her life on and off of her mat! Kira is deeply moved by nature and art in all of its forms…and by her beautiful inside and out daughter, Willow Moon. She loves to spend her downtime in nature, curled up with a book, or spending time with friends and family. Kira is committed to creating a space of freedom, full self expression, and loving community at Be Yoga & Dance. She is so excited and grateful to Larissa for inviting her on this love ride!
Dawn is a Yoga Instructor, Life Coach, Community Change Maker, and Leadership Consultant. In 2011, after years of studying with various teachers in NYC, she discovered Baptiste Power Vinyasa Yoga and never looked back. Dawn has 20 years of corporate experience, much of which has been in a leadership capacity. She founded numerous community projects including NYC Yoga Project, a 501c3 whose mission is to provide yoga principles to under served New Yorkers. Her leadership goal is to be a vessel that supports the personal awareness, integrity and passion in other’s journey.
Brianna Tori Halm
Briana is a makeup artist in New York City and has worked with MAC Cosmetics as well as multiple high end beauty companies for over 10 years, gaining expertise in Lesson, Advanced, and Fashion Show certification.Over the years through experience, she has realized that true beauty emanates from within, and has used her skills to build confidence and empower her clients, not only physically but also by encouraging them to take a personal journey inward with her Yoga teachings. In addition to being a skilled and experienced makeup professional, Briana received her New York State Cosmetology License in 2005, and also a B.S. in Communications, Digital & Design Media. She has also received her 200 hour certification from the Baptiste Yoga Institute and uses this methodology as a way of life both personally and professionally. Influenced by her teachers, peers, environment and travels, Briana aims to bring a unique sense of empowerment to each of her classes. Through intention, mediation, pranayama, and asana, her goal is to have each of her students leave feeling refreshed and renewed
Elizabeth is a spirited and energetic Brooklyn girl. She discovered yoga at the young age of 15-yrs-old and has been practicing yoga ever since. Once established in her career as a School Psychologist, Elizabeth attended her first yoga training at White Lotus Yoga in Santa Barbara, California in 2009. Her goal was to share the benefits and her love of yoga with the staff and students in her high school. Sharing yoga with others has been her passion ever since. Furthering her training, Elizabeth has completed her Level 1 and Level 2 Baptiste training courses and the Art of Assisting program. Currently, she is up to big things in her high school where she continues to receive training through the Art of Living Organization in various pranayama and meditation techniques. Her mission is to bring others into acceptance, gratitude, empowerment and joy. Kerry Sullivan has 17 years dance experience and has been practicing yoga for over 6 years. She is currently a member of Living through Movement Dance Company. This company works with dancers and non-dancers of all ages, levels and physical abilities and engage in “Moving Memories,” a program bringing movement to Alzheimer’s patients at Clove Lakes Health Care and Rehabilitation. Kerry received her 200 hr certification through Yoga Alliance at Tula Yoga and completed Baptiste Institute Level 1 Yoga Teacher Training. Kerry is also a Certified Children’s Yoga teacher through Next Generation. Yoga. Her goal is to help students connect to their divine potential, see their inner strength and find healing of mind, body and spirit through the practice of yoga and movement.
Marietta is a student of the human body and how its intricacies impact our yoga practice. She is passionate about utilizing intelligent alignment to assist students in advancing their yoga practice.
